The challenge
An education-loan enquiry is only the beginning. Students still need the right evidence, a suitable lender and a clear next action. Repeated document requests and uncertain handoffs can leave an interested applicant without a case the lender can assess.
Prepare a case, not just an enquiry
I organized the journey around preparing an assessable case, rather than stopping at lead capture. Common inputs, document collection, eligibility pre-checks and a defined lender handoff formed a thin origination layer. The point was to make case preparation part of the product instead of leaving the applicant to discover the process independently.
Connect application reporting to partner operations
I worked with engineering on the application and lender handoff, growth on CashKaro distribution, and operations on submitted cases. MoEngage and internal dashboards exposed abandonment and delay at individual stages. That let the team examine where applicants were getting stuck and whether the next team had usable information, rather than discuss only a final conversion total.
I also owned lender pricing, payout discussions, KYC responsibilities and service levels. More enquiries were useful only if cases could progress at a workable processing cost and satisfy agreed commercial conditions. Loan principal, earned partner revenue and contribution after acquisition and processing costs were different measures. A completed application could not stand in for all three.
Impact and its limits
The work connected student information, evidence collection, pre-checks and routing with partner operations and commercials. Comparable cohorts and a reconciled profit figure are unavailable, so this case makes no quantified causal or profitability claim. Public captures show discovery and readiness guidance, not completed offers or lender decisions.
Make the next action clear
At each handoff, the student and the receiving team need to know what is missing and who acts next. That is the lesson of this work: a completed form matters only when the lender can use the case it receives, and the operating team can follow its progress.
Evidence at the next useful step
A shorter form can appear successful while passing an incomplete case to the next team. I therefore treated student effort and lender readiness as one design tension. Collecting everything up front would also create unnecessary work; the useful question was what the student needed to provide now and which requirement belonged to the receiving lender or a later step.
The historical education-lending remit included upskilling and tier-2/3 applicants. The current College.money study-abroad pages are a later public reference, not a record of every historical feature. In those references, destination constrains university choice and readiness guidance separates evidence needed to begin from visa or I-20 items that may follow. They illustrate the case-preparation questions, rather than prove an authenticated historical journey.
A product and commercial responsibility
The account establishes that combined product and business remit; it does not include a reconciled education-business ledger or an isolated decision experiment. I do not calculate profit from loan volume. The economics and cohort tables are labelled analytical models in the references, separate from delivered instrumentation.
Public-reference walkthroughs
These three archived tours were authored from public College.money pages and illustrations captured on 13 October 2026. They describe discovery and published guidance, not an authenticated application. The complete recordings remain reference material; the loan-discovery tour focuses on the public entry sequence.

College.money: the public discovery interaction
Current discovery asks for a +91 mobile number, destination country, university, pincode and loan amount. The captured default is ₹40 lakh within a ₹10 lakh–₹2 crore selector. “See My Lender Options” is a discovery action, not evidence of lender approval.
With the United States selected, options included MIT, Stanford, Harvard and Caltech after a loading state. Choosing destination first constrains the university list. These public states explain the dependency, rather than establish which historical application fields I delivered.
Captured 13 October 2026. The public footer identifies Pouring Pounds. Protected applications, submitted documents and actual lender offers were not inspected.
College.money: the published application and readiness journey
Published guidance runs from study plan and co-applicant information to indicative options, document upload, final terms and funding. The table distinguishes those published stages from what the public capture establishes.
Readiness guidance separates admission, identity and income evidence needed to begin from visa or I-20 items that may follow. The comparison contrasts secured and unsecured borrowing through price, EMI and approval likelihood. Calculator guidance is indicative, not a guaranteed offer.
The pages use both “real offers” and “indicative” wording. Final terms remain the lender’s decision. Advertised volumes, approval figures, ratings and lender counts are current website claims rather than outcomes attributed to this historical case.

| Step | Published content | Evidence boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Study plan | Country, course, intake and cost | Public explanation, not completed profile |
| Co-applicant | Income and occupation | Public explanation, not verified income |
| Lender options | Indicative rates, terms and eligibility | No authenticated quote or underwriting inspected |
| Documents | Upload once and reuse | No document submitted |
| Funding | Review final lender terms and funding | No approval or disbursement executed |
Proposed analytical model: principal, revenue and contribution
I owned the roadmap and lender commercials together, including pricing, payout structures, KYC handoffs and service levels. That joined case progression to processing cost and the contractual conditions for partner revenue.
The diagram and table are an authored analytical model, dated 14 October 2026. Loan principal measures funding; earned partner revenue depends on the agreement; contribution also depends on acquisition and processing costs. Exact rates, recognized revenue, spend, staff costs, adjustments and receipts are unavailable, so no profit or margin is calculated.

| Layer | Operating model | What the source establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Loan principal | Funds disbursed by a lender; track separately from marketplace earnings. | ₹5.5 crore monthly disbursement is reported, with conflicting education-only versus broader lending scope. It is not revenue or profit. |
| Partner revenue | Recognise an agreed fee or commission only when its contractual earning condition is met. | Commercial pricing and payout negotiations are documented; exact rates, earning triggers and recognition policy are not. |
| Adjustments | Reconcile eligible cases, reversals, disputes, partner deductions and receipts before accepting a revenue total. | Partner reporting and reconciliation are documented across the lending programme; this statement is an authored accounting-control model. |
| Acquisition and incentives | Attribute paid distribution, communication and any incentives to the same borrower cohort. | CashKaro distribution and a low-CAC direction are described; education-specific spend and incentive terms are unavailable. |
| Case-processing cost | Include reviewer time, document checks, third-party services and support per completed case. | Origination and operations sit in the remit; the education-business cost ledger is not attached. |
| Contribution | Recognised partner revenue minus attributable variable costs. | A reference formula. No contribution amount or margin is calculated without its inputs. |
| Bottom line and cash | Deduct fixed product/team/operating costs; separately compare billed revenue with money received. | Positive unit economics is self-reported with conflicting timing. An audited profit, cash balance or break-even date is not established. |
Loan amount, commission revenue, contribution, operating profit and cash collection answer different questions. The available material cannot be used to calculate a complete P&L.
Proposed measurement model: enquiry to earned payout
Proposed measurement model: enquiry → completed case → lender acceptance → lender decision → disbursement → earned payout. I used stage-level dashboards in the operating work, but this exact event dictionary and joined cohort schema are an authored framework, not evidence of deployed instrumentation.

| Stage | Question to measure | Decision it informs |
|---|---|---|
| Acquire an enquiry | Which source and student segment produced a unique enquiry, at what attributable cost? | Compare useful demand and attributable acquisition cost by channel; CashKaro traffic is not assumed to be free or education-loan demand. |
| Prepare an application | Which enquiries become completed applications, and which requested evidence is missing? | The account reports 40% enquiry-to-application conversion; cohort, event definitions and comparison period are not supplied. |
| Submit to a lender | Was an authorised, sufficiently complete case accepted for review, returned for information or rejected? | Improve information capture and route fit; a pre-check is not a sanction. |
| Receive a decision | What is the lender outcome, reason and time spent at each pending stage? | Distinguish underwriting from document or operational delay; preserve lender decision ownership. |
| Disburse | Which approved cases actually receive funds, and when? | Measure application-to-disbursement separately; do not reuse the 40% application figure as a disbursement rate. |
| Earn and collect | Which cases satisfy the agreed payout condition and reconcile with the partner statement and receipt? | Connect journey improvement to contribution and cash, rather than stop at the volume of applications. |
A proposed cohort view would join channel, application, lender outcome, disbursement and payout events with stable case identifiers. It is not an assertion that this exact schema was deployed.
Proposed commercial review questions
These proposed review questions examine case readiness, processing cost and partner obligations together. A shorter application, more follow-up or a larger lender panel can change those costs and responsibilities in different ways. The table is a future analytical framework, not the findings of an executed experiment.
| Decision | Evidence needed |
|---|---|
| Scale an acquisition channel | Deduplicated enquiry cohorts, attributed spend, application readiness and downstream disbursement/payout outcomes. |
| Add or prioritise a lender | Eligible borrower coverage, customer-facing terms, service time, rejection reasons and agreed commercial obligations. |
| Automate a manual step | Time and error baseline, human-review needs, exception rate and the cost of incorrect or incomplete handoffs. |
| Assess product profitability | A reconciled revenue ledger, variable and fixed cost allocation, recognised-versus-collected amounts and an explicit period. |
Proposed validation questions, not findings from an executed experiment.
A current design review, distinct from historical delivery
Dated legal-reference context for product review: distinguish pre-checks from the lender’s decision, explain purpose-specific consent and identify responsibility when a case stalls. The linked May 2025 directions and October 2026 commercial-bank page are reference reading, not evidence that this journey implemented particular controls or passed a compliance review.
Notes and sources
- Evidence: my operating account and current College.money public references captured 13 October 2026. The historical remit included upskilling and tier-2/3 applicants; the present study-abroad pages do not establish every historical feature. EduLoans is a separate prototype.
- The launch-year career account reports 40% enquiry-to-application conversion without cohort or event definitions. A separate ₹5.5 crore monthly disbursement claim has conflicting education-only versus wider-lending scope; it is lender principal, not platform revenue. Positive-economics timing also conflicts, so these figures are not presented as measured study-abroad outcomes or profit.
- Full public captures, three authored tours, proposed analytical tables and dated legal references are available as reference material. None establishes authenticated offer execution or historical implementation of regulatory controls.
