Trade payments and ERP
Finance and operations had to reconcile customer payments, internal trade records and shipping documents. I worked on gateway and ERP requirements across that workflow.
My role Payment-gateway and ERP requirements with engineering, finance, business and operations.
Why this mattered
Cross-border payments, currencies and shipping requirements left transaction information spread across records. Finance and operations needed to understand what had been paid, what trade it belonged to and which operating checks remained.
Connect the payment and its trade
A gateway for large-ticket commodity payments had to fit the transaction around it. My requirements work connected the customer payment with the ERP’s internal trade record and the information finance needed for reconciliation.
The records call the linked internal parts of a transaction “trade legs”. The useful requirement was to connect those parts: successful payment alone could not tell every team that the wider trade was complete.
I investigated payment failures with finance and worked directly with engineering on system design. IDFC is named as the banking partner in the historical account. My contribution was the gateway/ERP product requirements and operating handoffs.
Include documents and operating checks
Customs and shipping documentation were part of the transaction requirements alongside payment and reconciliation. The product work covered both steps users completed and checks teams needed around execution.
I worked across engineering, finance, business and operations on those connected requirements. Payment, the trade record and documents needed to be considered as a workflow, rather than completed independently and reconciled only afterwards.
The reported operating changes concern that combined programme. Complaint reduction is not attributed solely to documentation, and no monetary saving is calculated from the leakage percentage.
Investigate a transaction across records
For similar work, I would follow an unresolved transaction across the customer view, finance record and operational documents. First establish what each team believes happened, which reference or responsibility is missing, and who can resolve the difference.
Reported operating changes
The historical career record reports settlement reducing from five days to one day, complaint tickets falling 80% and financial leakage falling approximately 70–80%. These are combined programme reports, not isolated effects of documentation or one interface.
The settlement clock, complaint denominator, comparison cohorts and monetary leakage baseline are unavailable. No monetary saving is inferred.
